Snuggled deep in a remote, rugged mountain valley Tesla Lake is home to some of the largest rainbow trout in BC. Over 8 miles long and more than 300 feet deep, surrounded by spectacularly scenic mountain peaks you will be overcome with the power and beauty of nature’s untouched wilderness. Here is the haunt of those once in a lifetime trophy rainbows that exist only in the dreams of most fishermen. This rare species of extraordinary piscivorous (fish eating) rainbows never stop growing and can weigh up to 20 lbs. The average catch is in the 5-10 lb range and the finest meals are found in the 4-5 lb fish. Trolling is the method preferred by most fishermen using an astounding variety of lures in the full spectrum of sizes and colors, any of which can have its day. Apex, Flatfish, Ruby Eye, Gibbs Stewart, Ford Fender, Daredevils, Willow Leaf, FST, plugs and even salmon flies have all worked. Situated at the top of the food chain with no predators to fear, these beasts feel free to feed on anything that passes within their reach.
We have three 14 ft boats with 10 hp motors, fuel, life jackets, rod holders, nets etc., docked at the lodge and the fishing begins immediately.
Work the mouth of Wahla Creek before you leave the bay then cruise along adjacent to the face of Tesla Mountain and enjoy the antics of a herd of Mountain Goats playing on the ledges of the nearly vertical mountain face. Fish off the mouth of Capoose Creek and be prepared for the rare sight of a Woodland Caribou. The haunting song of the ever present loons is a near constant companion. Search the shoreline trees and you will notice that an eagle is paying close attention to your progress. Watch him as you release a fish. If it rests near the surface for more than a few seconds it will become a free lunch for this laziest of all eagles. We named the lodge in his honor.
