Burns Lake BC, the Gateway to Tweedsmuir Park, is located in the geographical center of BC on the Yellowhead Highway #16. approximately 140 (225 kms) miles west of Prince George BC.
Driving distance from Vancouver is 629 miles (1012 kms), from Edmonton 599 miles (964 kms) and from Calgary 790 miles (1271 kms).
There are two area airports with regularly scheduled flights.
- Smithers Airport is served by
Air Canada and is located 90 miles (145 kms) west of Burns Lake.
- Prince George International Airport is served by
Westjet,
Air Canada, and
Central Mountain Air and is located 140 miles (225 kms) east of Burns Lake. Both offer car rental service.
The Burns Lake Regional Airport (CYPZ) is a 5000’ paved runway equipped with lighting and a LWIS weather information service. GPS Coordinates: N54 22 35 W125 57 05 Elevation: 2343 ASL.
Manditory frequency is 122.700 Mhz. LWIS frequency is 122.950 Mhz. Both 100 LL and Jet A fuel are available. Tie-downs are free. Transfers to and from the float plane docks are complimentary.
