Located a short and easy 15 minute hike from the cabin on Tesla Lake, you will find a 14 ft boat, equipped with a 10 hp motor, fuel, oars, life jackets and net on the shore in a quiet calm bay, everything you need to spend a day in search of that once in a lifetime trophy rainbow. A long narrow lake roughly divided into two sections by a distinct dogleg, Wahla Lake offers yet another type of fishing experience. Home to the same species of piscivorous rainbows that are found in Tesla Lake, the average fish will be in the 4 to 10 pound range but there are always those 20 pound behemoths lurking down there somewhere. The same techniques and lures used in Tesla Lake are effective here.
This is a lake of deep troughs, narrow channels, islands, and quiet bays that combine to provide the full spectrum of rainbow fishing. Whether you prefer to troll, cast from an island into a deep channel, present flies in the calm protected bays or spincast with light gear Wahla Lake will allow you to be yourself. Because of the delicate ecostructure and in the interest of good resource stewardship, Wahla Lake has been designated as a catch and release lake and we recommend the use of single barbless hooks. You are allowed to keep one fish 20 inches or less.
